What goes around,
should come back around

The footwear industry is broken

More than 22 billion pairs of shoes are thrown away every year. At least 90% of these shoes will end up in landfills. Most of the materials in these shoes cannot be reused since they are not designed to be recycled, which leads to massive carbon emissions. We cannot accept that this is how the fashion and footwear industry will continue to function in the future.

Circularity is the foundation for a future sustainable fashion industry, and it has been the core ambition of New Movements since our inception. In order to reach a fully circular value chain that minimizes environmental footprint, we will have to continue further down to the atom level and create new technical textiles that do not yet exist. This can only happen through ground breaking research and ambitious partnerships for innovation.

NM Recycling Program

In 2020 we launched our Recycling Program (previously named The Circular Program), making it easy for all New Movements owners to return their worn out shoes to us.

The shoes are returned to our manufacturers, and a significant part of the materials are then repurposed and used in the production of new pairs. The level of circularity varies from type of shoe and the materials in them.

We are constantly tweaking our products, materials and assembly process to maximize the level of circularity.

Recycle here

Recycle your worn out shoes with our Circular Program, and we'll re-use the materials to make new shoes.

And you get a 20% discount on your next pair. Everybody wins!
